Robust Active Vibration Control of Smart Structures; a Comparison between Two Approaches: μ-Synthesis & LMI-Based Design

چکیده
The purpose of this paper is comparing the performance of two robust control designing approaches in smart structures. First, an accurate model of a homogeneous plate with special boundary conditions is derived by using of modal analysis. Then, some primitive p late’s modes are considered as nominal system and the remaining modes are left as a multip licat ive unstructured modelling uncertainty. Next, two robust controller are designed using μ-Synthesis & LMI-Based Design approaches based on the augmented plant composed of the nominal model and its accompanied uncertainty. Finally, the robustness of two uncertain closed-loop models and the d ifference between two controller performances has been investigated. Obtained results show the higher performance of LMI-Based Design approach in rejection of random disturbances.

متن کاملA magnetorheological fluid damper for robust vibration control of flexible rotor-bearing systems: A comparison between sliding mode and fuzzy approaches
Squeeze Film Dampers (SFD) are commonly used for passive vibration control of rotor-bearing systems. The Magnetorheological (MR) and Electrorheological (ER) fluids in SFDs give a varying damping characteristic to the bearing that can provide active control schemes for the rotor-bearing system. A common way to model an MR bearing is implementing the Bingham plastic model. Adding this model to th...
متن کاملActive vibration control of smart building frames by feedback controllers
In this paper the active vibration control of a four-story shear frame instrumented with piezoelectric actuators is presented. The piezoelectric actuators are hosted on the columns in two manners and the produced controlling forces by actuators are considered in the equation of motion. The smart structure modeling and control design is carried out using MATLAB software in state space form. Subs...

One of the best vibration control methods using smart actuators are semi-active approaches which are as strong as active methods and need no external energy supply such as passive ones. Compared with piezoelectric-based, magnetostrictive-based control methods have higher coupling efficiency, higher Curie temperature, higher flexibility to be integrated with curved structures and no depolarizati...
